Instagram for Android – How To Guide

The apps which are popular among other ecosystems, slowly start producing their variant in Android. The main reason for this is the huge no of android users around the world and the wide opportunities it brings. A free app always makes it presence known in Google Play Store, but a popular photo sharing app and also a very much anticipated one will surely turn numbers to giants. And that’s what Instagram has made.

1 million downloads in the first 12 hours !!!

Meet Instagramblogheader

It’s a fast, beautiful and fun way to share your photos with friends and family.

Snap a picture, choose a filter to transform its look and feel, then post to Instagram. Share to Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr too – it's as easy as pie. It's photo sharing, reinvented.

Oh yeah, it’s free!!

Home Tab

The Home Tab has the feed containing the uploads made by the user, user’s friends and the ones user is following.

The user can like the photo, comment on it and share.

The feed is very beautifully designed with smooth scrolling and organised touch buttons. It has transparent header which displays the user who uploaded the photo and time at which the photo was uploaded. When header is clicked, then it shows the profile of the user who uploaded that particular photo.

A simple way to like a photo is to tap on it twice.

Popular Tab

In this tab, the photos which gets more no. of likes and shares are portrayed. A creative algorithm which should be based on trending feature of a photo must been implemented, coz it works well to portray the really popular ones.

Thumbnails of the popular photos are shown in the tab view and when clicked, the app takes user to the particular photo page where the user can also like and comment on the photo.

Users actually work hard to place their creations in the Popular Tab, so it creates more or less a competition between the users to create wonderful artistic photos!!

News Tab

The News Tab actually brings all the notifications on things happening around the user profile.

It has got two sub tabs, the one for showing the activities by the user’s following accounts and the other sub tab is dedicated for the activities by the user and related notifications.

In all the tabs, there is a refresh button at the top right corner of the screen, which is used to reload up to the moment.

Profile Tab

The profile features all your uploads to the Instagram as neat Grid view and also in detailed list view with likes count and comments. Up in the tab is the profile picture of the user and stats showing no. of uploads, following and followers count.

It also has a search button where in you could not just search for other users but also search public uploads via the tags. Cool, right!!?

Upper right corner, we have the settings button, which leads to a page where you could change settings regarding your profile, sharing settings, photo privacy settings, camera settings and other common preferences.

 Capture Tab

The capture opens up the phone’s primary capture(there is an option to switch to secondary camera too) camera powered by Instagram’s own advanced features. There is a provision to adjust the flash setting, set automatic as default.

Once got your picture in the screen, press the camera button to take a photo. After that, you could apply from 30 most coolest filters by Instagram to your photo. You could include a photo frame which changes perfectly according to the filter set and you could also adjust the brightness of the photo taken.

You could also choose a photo which was shot earlier and saved in the gallery.

Then the Upload page appears with lot of cool sharing options including popular social sites like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr. You could geo-tag the photo taken using either GPS or connected wireless networks.

All finished, good to go!!

In the end

You can experience the real awesomeness only when you use this app. The download links are provided below both for android and iOS devices.
